ACT Partnering with RIT promoting Health Aging
Alliance Care Technologies (ACT) is partnering with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) for community promotion of healthy aging and lifelong learning. Expanding on the rich tradition of lifelong learning we will be expanding the program to include health assessments, fitness, nutrition to the expansive social engagement programming.
RIT Osher Lifelong Learning, originally known as The Athenaeum at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) for many years. The Athenaeum name was in honor of RIT’s own history—the university was founded in 1891 when the Rochester Athenaeum (liberal arts) merged with the Rochester Mechanics Institute (engineering). From our first days in 1987, we were focused on creating a peer-led learning organization.
In 2009, we became an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), joining a growing national network of 120+ university-based programs for senior learners. Our name change from The Athenaeum to Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT marked this important national affiliation with The Bernard Osher Foundation. More than 170,000 people nationwide are members of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes. Through satellite and partner locations, the 125 OLLIs offer courses and activities in 379 cities and towns throughout the US.
ACT’s Active Aging Engage platform is designed as a comprehensive lifestyle solution to empower individuals, family, and friends to support each other to ensure the best health, nutrition, fitness, and social engagement throughout the entire life course. Each generation raises the next and cares for the previous. By everyone living their best life ever, they impart the same for those around them.
Alliance Care Technologies’ Research & Development team has architected a comprehensive program to meet the goals of Active Aging and Living the best life ever. The Engage platform integrates information about members’ health, goals, interests, professional background to build individualized programs for each member with staff dashboards to follow members’ engagement and progress. ACT has designed Engage Platform for community centers to provide dynamic customizable programs for community centers clients. Active Aging will be sold as a modular plug and play program.
